Edmonton Oilers Alumni
Edmonton Oilers Alumni
The Edmonton Oiler Alumni Association has been running for over 20 years and became a Society incorporated under the Alberta Societies Act July 16, 1999. The Association is very committed to giving back to the community that has supported their beloved Oilers for so long! For 10 years the Oiler Alumni Association has held a Golf Tournament at two golf courses. The funds raised were donated to such worthy causes as the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Robin Hood Association. The Oiler Alumni Association is also very proud to contribute to the Edmonton Oiler Reading…Give it a Shot Program as well and numerous other charities including Craig Simpson’s Night of Hope with proceeds going to Spinal Cord Research. Our very own, Al Hamilton, (first captain for the Oilers) is in the process of constructing a rink in the inner city to give disadvantaged kids a safe and welcoming place to play! This will be a paved rink in the summer and iced in the winter, so they will have access to this for all seasons. Part of the funds for this coming from the Al Hamilton Friends and Family Golf Classic held every year at the end of August. He is also the namesake for Scholarships provided by the Oiler Alumni Association, to worthy young people active in the sporting world with high Academic and Charitable characteristics.
The Members of the Oiler Association include players from both the Oiler and Oil King organizations. We welcome all retired players, so please contact Brenda Bell and we would be more than happy to include you in our activities!
